Cognitive dissonance

1 john 1:5-6

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.

I believe this passage to be truth.

Therefore, I never cease to be surprised, dismayed and disappointed to see Facebook updates from professing Christians in which they celebrate the works of darkness from which they have supposedly been saved and delivered. Darkness and light simply can’t coexist, and when they collide, light always wins.

I’m sure it is my heritage — Wesleyan-Holiness-Pentecostal — that has influenced my views on lifestyle holiness, but I make no apologies for believing that we are called to be holy, because HE is holy.
