My review of Mac24-7

Rest1

We went to Waikiki after church Sunday with a party of 11 to try the massive pancakes we had heard about. Mac24-7 is located in the Hilton Prince Kuhio, the former Radisson Waikiki. The hotel and restaurant have had a complete make-over, and it was nicely done. We had a private dining room with a beautiful view of the garden, gazebo and waterfall.

The service was great… very attentive and accommodating. They brew strong Starbucks coffee served in cups the size of bowls. ($4)

The famous pancakes? meh

They are enormous… 14 inches in diameter and the stack of three is about 3 inches tall+. Therein lies the problem. They are TOO thick. The thickness of each pancake made them very dry and it was more like eating a slice of cake than a stack of pancakes. The topping was just okay — I would preferred some apple pie filling or a pile of strawberries.

Lots of food for $12 — enough to feed maybe 3 or 4 people in a single serving, but too dry, too thick, and I’ll probably be back at Koa House in Kaneohe (or even Denny’s) when next I am craving pancakes.
