What I am learning

Watching this political theater in Hawaii this week has been a roller coaster ride of emotions.

Here are a few random observations, in no particular order:

• The Hawaii Democratic Party is owned, and will always march lockstep with the national Democrats, convinced that they know best, and public opinion does not sway them.

• Sharon Har is a class act. Smart, well-spoken, passionate, righteous… if she doesn’t run for Governor she is missing a kairos moment.

• The people calling Christians haters have been pretty hateful… F-bombing, middle-finger-saluting, name-calling, posting hateful messages to their opponents.

• You think it’s an ugly fight now, just wait: the endless punitive lawsuits that will come flooding in after same-sex marriage is legal will clog the courts for years to come; watch closely as the attacks on churches who stood in opposition intensify. If your church meets in a public school, start looking for space elsewhere. Fast.

• It is astounding to me that so many citizens were far better informed about the issues outside the blue-state-bubble than our elected representatives.
